The Nassal Company provided design/build services to create a new realm, both underwater and above water, at the existing Dolphin Cove Area. The new underwater habitat consisted of rock formations mimicking the character of a Polynesian island, and a vibrantly colored reef made from individual Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) coral elements. The above water featured an enhanced guest viewing area with faux wood beams and pylons carved from plaster, a rock waterfall, structural rockwork elements carved consistent with the underwater theming, an artificial beach area, and epoxy sculpted handrails to appear as small vines.
SeaWorld’s Discovery Point is a tucked-away oasis within SeaWorld San Antonio. Here, an expansive Dolphin Lagoon is home to a playful pod of bottlenose dolphins.
